Robey Louise Ammons, 98, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019, in Lancaster.
Born Dec. 25, 1920, in Altoona, Blair County, she was the daughter of the late Clair F. Herring Sr. and Pearl (Jones) Herring. She was united in marriage to Erie “Ed” Warner, who preceded her in death in 1967. She later married Clifton R. Ammons Jr. Mr. Ammons preceded her in death in 2001.
Mrs. Ammons is survived by her son, William “Bill” Warner and wife, Karen, of Mesquite, Nevada; stepdaughters, Dixie Ammons of Clearwater, Florida, and Lori Ammons of Pullman, Washington; five stepgrandsons; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.
She is also survived by two nieces and one cousin.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clair F. Herring Jr. and William Herring.
Mrs. Ammons was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Lancaster since 2012.
She was a 1938 graduate of Huntingdon High School and a 1942 graduate of the Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing.
Mrs. Ammons retired from nursing at the VA Hospital, Miami, Florida.
A tribute to Mrs. Ammons’ life will be held at noon Thursday, April 25, at Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. Middletown, with the Rev. Mark Russell officiating. Interment will be made in Middletown Cemetery, Middletown.
There will be a viewing from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.
