Sandra Covert, 81, most recently of Venice, Florida, passed away Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, at Sunset Lake Rehab Center.

A native of Huntingdton County who spent most of her life in the Orbisonia area, she was the daughter of Dalbert N. and Amanda Ford.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, John B. Covert Jr. at home, two sons, John B. Covert Jr. and Roger A. Covert, four grandsons, Robert Covert, Jarred Covert, Matthew Covert and Garrett Hoedel and four great-grandchildren.

A brother, Gary D. Ford of North Carolina, also survives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two children, Theodore Covert and Pamela Covert, and two grandchildren Aaron B. Covert and Amanda Covert.

Mrs. Covert was a lifetime attendee of the Orbisonia United Methodist Church, most recently attending at GUMC of Venice.

She graduated with a bachelor’s degree and a master of education from Shippensburg University.

She was a longtime teacher and reading administrator for the Southern Huntingdon County School District. Education was her passion, and she is respectfully remembered by many former students. She began her teaching career at Spring Farms Elementary School and continued at Rockhill Elementary School. She retired as the district reading supervisor in 1995 with 33 years of service.

She will be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.

Funeral arrangements are by Farley Funeral Home, Venice, Florida.

Memorial services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
