Scott Alan Kyler, 42, 9659 Hartslog Road, Huntingdon, Porter Township, died at 6:13 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020, at the University of Penn Hospital, Philadelphia.
Born Aug. 31, 1978, in Tyrone, Blair County, he was a son of Karen Kyler of Hesston and the late Norman Groce. He was united in marriage to the former Samantha L. Shope May 19, 2018, in Mount Union. Mrs. Kyler survives at home.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Kyler is survived by his son, Trevor Alan Kyler, at home.
He is also survived by a sister, Amy M. Groce of McConnellsburg; his grandmother, Nancy Kyler of Huntingdon; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Timothy and Deborah Shope of Huntingdon; sisters-in-law, Megan Beaver and husband, Aaron, of James Creek, and Brittany Krepps and husband, Ray Sr., of Huntingdon; and nieces and nephews, Whitney, Emily, Evan, Harlee, Violet, Kennedy, Stella, Shane and Emmett.
He was preceded in death by a son, Vincent Russell Kyler, June 11, 2006, and a brother, Steven E. Groce, June 22, 1997.
Mr. Kyler was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and professional baseball fan. He loved animals, fishing and collecting guns and sports memorabilia. He enjoyed listening to music, going to live concerts, playing his guitars and watching youth league sports.
A lifetime resident of Huntingdon County, he had resided at his current address since 2018.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at Heritage Baptist Church, 11332 Raystown Road, McConnellstown, with the Rev. Mike Blackie officiating. Interment will be made in the Alexandria Presbyterian Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Cutright Funeral Homes – Smithfield Chapel, 313 Fairgrounds Road, Huntingdon, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, and at the church from 10 a.m. Friday until the hour of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Kyler to Cutright Funeral Homes, P.O. Box 594, Huntingdon, PA 16652, to help defray funeral expenses.
