Sherry L. (Snare) Mitchell

Sherry L. (Snare) Mitchell, 76, of 5339 Mitchell Lane, Huntingdon, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, at UPMC Altoona.

Born Oct. 25, 1942, in Aitch, she was the daughter of the late Merle W. and Louise R. (Lloyd) Snare. She was united in marriage to Fay L. Mitchell Jan. 11, 1963, at the Nazarene Church in McConnellstown by the Rev. Jerry Dowds. Mr. Mitchell survives at their home.

Mrs. Mitchell is survived by a son, Brandon Lee Mitchell and wife, Gina, of Spring Mills; her granddaughters, Sarah Fae Pollock and Chelsea Jean Tolaro and husband, Phil, all of Norfolk, Virginia, and Kylie Rebecca Shupe and husband, Dillon, of Hollidaysburg; and her great-grandchildren, Mya Tate, Ethan Tolaro, Owen Tolaro and Milo Shupe.

She is also survived by her niece, Kathy Dixon of Huntingdon, who was reared in the Snare home with Mrs. Mitchell.

She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Mitchell; a daughter, Lisa Mitchell; a granddaughter, Courtney Myers; a sister, Ruth Grubb; and two brothers, William Snare and Ronald Snare. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Mitchell was a member of the Petersburg Bethel Presbyterian Church.

She was a member of the former McConnellstown Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies’ Auxiliary and a life member of the Juniata Valley Senior Citizen Center.

Mrs. Mitchell was a 1961 graduate of Huntingdon High School.

During her life, she was employed at the former Elco Corp, Huntingdon, and at the Home Nursing Agency for 10 years as a private duty nurse.

Mrs. Mitchell was a Pittsburgh Pirates fan, enjoyed watching wildlife at their home and enjoyed country western music.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Tyler Downing officiating. Interment will be made in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker Township.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Mitchell requested memorial contributions in her memory be made to the Huntingdon County Humane Society, 11371 Schoolhouse Hollow Road, Huntingdon, PA 16652.
