The Daily News
The Fourth of July holiday in Huntingdon has been special over the years as we celebrate the birthday of our country. With 245 under our belts, we have come a long way. The freedom we enjoy today goes back to our ancestors who settled this great land and handed it down to us, our children and grandchildren. Over the years it has become a tradition to celebrate the birth of our country with family get-togethers, picnics and fireworks displays. Huntingdon’s Fourth of July fireworks display is our Declaration of Independence to the world.
Most of the money is raised through a letter like this to special citizens and businesses who have been the “quiet” movers and shakers of our community. This year our fireworks fund drive is $11,000 and will fire from Flagpole Hill at 9:40 p.m. Saturday, July 3, so everyone has a ringside seat. Our reason for July 3 is to allow area residents the opportunity to attend other displays July 4. Once again, this year, the Geissinger family has decided to continue their dad’s hard work and dedication to his community by doing this year’s display in their honor. Our rain date is 9:40 p.m. Sunday, July 5.
We only have two weeks to raise the funds, so please respond quickly to: Huntingdon Fireworks Fund, P.O. Box 17, Huntingdon, PA 16652. Thousands of folks enjoy this community event each year thanks to you. Thanks for helping.
