Forbes Road 13

Mount Union’s boys opened their season with a 46-13 win over visiting Forbes Road Friday afternoon.

Rayquan Smith scored 12 points and Jayvien Brumbaugh added eight to pace the Trojans. Kaden S. led the Cardinals with six.

Mount Union will be home Tuesday to take on Huntingdon at 3:45.

Girls Basketball

Tussey Mountain 39

Fannett Metal 9

Tussey Mountain had a strong first half, then did even better in the second on the way to a 39-9 win over Fannett-Metal Friday. The Titans led 18-7 at halftime.

Karli Lucko led the Titans with 14 points in the contest. M. McClure finished with four to lead the Tigers.

Tussey will be back to work Wednesday at McConnellsburg.

McConnellsburg 17

Mount Union outscored host McConnellsburg 8-0 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 22-17 season-opening victory.

Barys Dodd and Kassidy Bookout each scored nine points to pace the Trojans. Bryanna Ross led the Spartans with 15.

Mount Union will host Belleville Mennonite Monday at 4 p.m.
