Juniata Valley

This Week’s Game: Moshannon Valley (2-5) at Juniata Valley (5-2), 7 p.m.

Last Week in Review: A pair of TD passes gave Juniata Valley a 14-0 halftime lead over visiting Claysburg, then two running TDs in the second half secured a 27-6 victory. Quarterback Caden Rupert completed 16 of 25 passes for 223 yard and touchdowns of 40 and eight yards to Jacob Hensor.

“I was very pleased that we kept one of the best quarterbacks in the area under control,” said Juniata Valley coach Bill Musser. “In the fourth quarter, when we expected them to throw, they had to run.

“Offensively, we’re taking what defenses give us. We threw deep early, then underneath later. We finished by running the ball effectively in the second half.”

Scouting Report: “We can’t focus on Moshannon Valley’s record,” Musser continued. “They have good size up front and a couple good players in skill positions.

“Offensively, they run a lot of read option and RPO. They try to get you out of position and throw behind you.

“Defensively, we’ll see four- and five-man fronts with pressure coming from the linebackers.

“Right now, our special teams are very special and I believe we should have an advantage there.”
