Rocket head coach Andy Hull likes going to this event to start the season.
“Typically the better kids are pushed a little and some others have the ability to win matches. It’s a pretty evenly spread out tournament. It’s a good tournament for every level of wrestler.
“I thought we wrestled ok. We’re very green on the mat. It was good see Ian back on the mat and to see success for Brandon. He works very hard. Everyone is working hard and they all showed up and competed well.”
Runk started by pinning Braden Pfister from Penn Cambria in 1:27. Another fall over Alec Bossert (Bellefonte) in 2:34 brought him first place at 152.
Whisler began with a loss in eight seconds to Tyler Benner from Bellefonte. He defeted David Fox from Claysburg by a 10-2 major decision to take third place.

He lost in the first period to Bellefonte’s Stephen Ivicic, then pinned David Romero (Erie High) in 1:49. A loss to Bobby Raivis from St. Mary’s put Wilson in fourth place.
