Tussey Mountain has been struggling to win a softball game recently and Thursday’s visit to Claysburg was no different.
The Titans were limited to just four hits and the defense was guilty of seven errors in the 10-1 loss to the Bulldogs.
“The defense really let us down today,” said Titan coach Kevin Reed. “We gave Allison Angelo a chance to pitch and she did a pretty good job of keeping Claysburg’s hitters off balance. We just didn’t make the routine plays behind her.”
Emalee Cavender led off the Claysburg half of the first with a single. Nevaeh Walker drew a two-out walk before Sawer Claar delivered a single to score the runs.
A Tussey error allowed Hayden Lamborn to score in the second to give CK a 3-0 lead.
Claysburg added three more runs in the fourth. Jenna Helsel and Walter had singles to drive in the runs.
Tussey got its only run in the top of the sixth. Alayna Clark led off the inning with a triple, then Karli Lucko singled her home.
The Bulldogs picked up four runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the scoring. They took advantage of four hits and a pair of Tussey errors.
Angelo struck out two, walked one and gave up 12 hits to suffer the loss for the Titans. Clark came on with two out in the bottom of the sixth. She gave up one hit and struck out one.
Sierra Walters got the win for Claysburg. She struck out six, walked three and gave up four hits.
Tussey will be back in action today, playing host to Southern Fulton in a 3 p.m. start.
