Tussey Mountain started its soccer season with a trip to Berlin-Brothers Valley Saturday. The Titans improved their play as the match went on but it was all Mountaineers in an 11-0 romp.
The Titans (0-1) lost their 10th in a row dating back to last season. There was a win by forfeit over The Grier School during that time. Tussey is 0-4 all-time against Berlin. The teams last met in a 2011 District 5-A quarterfinal game.
Tussey Mountain is young and only has one substitute on the bench. New head coach Myles Crawford still saw some positives in the match.
“We made some mistakes early in the game. We were able to bounce back in the second half.”
Berlin held a 9-0 lead at halftime. In the second half Kaylee Cofffman and Molly Molosky made some key defensive stops.
Jenna Hall had five saves. Lydia Wright took two shots on goal and Paiton Black had one.
This is the 12th time in program history the Titans have allowed 11 or more goals in a game.
Tussey Mountain plays at Northern Bedford Monday. They have lost 13 in a row against the Black Panthers.
